UMCES
Objective
University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science aka UMCES needed a redesign for an outdated website and content management system (CMS). UMCES website links all six of its campuses to one website but each campus had its own external website causing confusion to viewers who were trying to look for information on faculty, projects or research highlights. The goal was to create a site that had a solid template system and flexible enough CMS that each campus could create content on this one site instead of six separate campus pages.
Process
Through an extensive discovery process with the client I determined the two things each campus wanted was a directory for students to locate faculty, and bio pages for each faculty member to post their research findings and published articles. From there a new brand identity was created to bring UMCES into the modern age.
Results
Upon launch, the number of graduate students contacting professors for graduate studies exploded along with Mindgrub earning Baltimore Innovation Week’s Design/Dev Firm of the Year.
